About This Project
Laundry Room Side Door Closure, Waterproofing and Custom Window Installation
This laundry room side door closure and waterproofing upgrade on Glencairn Avenue in Toronto was completed to eliminate water infiltration, improve home security, and increase natural lighting inside the laundry room. The existing side door had become a moisture risk and an unnecessary break‑in point, making a full brick‑up and window installation the ideal long‑term solution.
Our team began by removing the old door and frame, exposing the structural opening for reconstruction. We completed the required framing work, ensuring the new wall section was properly supported, and applied a full layer of Blueskin waterproofing membrane for durable, long‑term moisture protection—critical for Toronto’s freeze‑thaw cycles.
To enhance natural light and airflow, we designed and installed a custom‑sized window that fit the existing opening width. The window includes an awning‑style operable sash, allowing ventilation even during rain while maintaining full weather protection.
We then completed the brickwork installation, matching the existing exterior brick color, size, and pattern for a seamless finish. A new brick window sill was installed for proper drainage, followed by professional window installation and exterior caulking to ensure a watertight seal.
Inside the laundry room, we finished the project with fibreglass insulation, a proper vapor barrier, and drywall repair and paint, restoring the interior to a clean, finished condition.
The result is a safer, brighter, and fully waterproofed laundry room wall that blends perfectly with the home’s exterior.
