Green Manor
About This Project
Green Manor, Woodbridge – Exterior Wall Opening with Custom Steel Beam Support for a 12‑ft Patio Door
The Green Manor, Woodbridge project required a full structural and permitting package — from engineering design to implementation. Our team prepared the structural drawings, obtained the building permit, and executed the work with the precision required for creating a large opening in an exterior brick wall. The homeowners wanted to bring more natural light into the home and improve access to the backyard, which meant creating a new structural opening large enough to accommodate a 12‑ft patio door.
To achieve this safely, we cut a new opening in the exterior brick wall, carefully supported the brick façade above, and installed a custom‑fabricated steel beam supported by custom‑made steel posts resting directly on the concrete foundation. This system was engineered to carry the redistributed loads without compromising the integrity of the exterior wall. Once the structural work was complete and the new patio door was installed, we finished the project with professional brickwork restoration on the exterior and clean interior finishing on the inside, ensuring the new opening blended seamlessly with the existing home.
This project is a clear example of our integrated approach — structural design, permitting, and implementation all handled under one roof, with the level of detail and care homeowners expect when modifying an exterior wall. If you’re considering a large custom patio door, feel free to reach out. We can manage the entire process: design, permitting, structural components, supply and installation of a custom‑made door of any size, brickwork, and interior finishes. And if you need a new deck to complete the outdoor space, we can take care of that as well — ensuring everything is ready for your outdoor enjoyment and entertainment.
What Our Client Said
Sante Cardinale
Green Manor Crescent, Vaughan
I was looking to convert a wall with 2 oversized windows to a 14 foot bi-folding door (the first stage of our new indoor/outdoor living space). Understanding that the project required structural work, I researched a number of companies on Home Stars. Alex from ALDO Structural is one of the contractors I discussed the project with. From our first call / onsite meeting and throughout the stages of the project, Alex was in constant communication on the requirements and specs of the project. He was thoroughly knowledgable. Because of the poor spring weather we had to change the timing of the project a few times. Alex was very accommodating and changed his schedule to align with the door installation to ensure the home was not left exposed. Alex and his team worked diligently and clean while ensuring that minimal disruption was made to the house and our living conditions. The work was completed on time and on budget in 4 days. On the 5th day the city inspector passed the structural part of the permit. The inspector commented “a very good job done”. Being nervous going into such a large structural project I came away feeling that we absolutely made the right decision with Alex. I will definitely be engaging Alex again on future projects and would certainly recommend him. Thank you Alex for your professionalism and commitment to the project. I can only hope to find contractors for other aspects of the project with the same level of honesty and integrity.
